Mbah restores hope To Enugu State

Peter Mbah, the new Governor of Enugu State, has made significant changes in the first 100 days of his term. These changes have positively impacted the state’s history and the citizens’ future goals.

Governor Mbah planned his administration program before his election, instead of enjoying the excitement of governorship. He knew his administration’s leadership. He knows the journey will be tough to achieve his governance philosophy.

Before Mbah became governor, the state and Southeast zone had many problems including insecurity, economic issues, poverty, infrastructure deterioration, falling revenue, youth unrest, and leadership deficit. Serious concerns need quick solutions and political will.

Recovering the state from this asphyxiation seemed unlikely due to leadership culture, self-glorification, primitive accumulation, and lack of empathy. Addressing threats requires more than practical strategies and citizen participation for the governor.

Mbah disrupted innovation with a sudden rope pull. Observers saw the actions as a surprising change in governance, but believed it showed bravery in the face of challenges.

To bring hope to his people, who faced insecurity from illegal sit-at-home orders, kidnappings, and terrorism, Mbah was determined to address the issue.

He explained why his administration will not give in to blackmail or social media pressure to address insecurity. The explanation focused on his ideology, promise to improve the economy, eliminate poverty through growth, and industrialize with an agro-allied policy. Lofty goals require killing insecurity.

Hostage-holding criminals canceled the sit-at-home order. Governor formed security agency synergy for better security. Fighting insecurity, especially due to misinformation and ignorance, is challenging. The governor remembered how states retreated from “sit-at-home” slavery. Mbah persisted. No retreat! He promised to give up his comfort and status to save his people from problems.

The new administration supports security agencies for the emerging state to create a safe environment for investors and transition to a private sector-driven economy with a $30 billion GDP. Enugu is a safe state for business, tourism, and living. Mbah transformed Enugu in 100 days.

Sit-at-home is not happening in Enugu State and the Southeast. Mbah disproved and cleaned the area. He credits his constituents’ involvement for his success.

The state was a hopeless oasis. Water was fancy. Citizens suffered for years. Hope for water in the state had vanished over time.

Mbah’s promise of potable water in 180 days was seen as a political joke. They found the promise weird. Maybe they were used to bad governance.

The governor wanted it done in less than 180 days. He gathered engineers to find and fix problems quickly. He learned the state metropolis uses 100,000 cubic metres of water daily and each source has a limit. In less than 100 days, the state produced 125,000 cubic meters of water. 18 boreholes with 150hp pumps made 60,000 cubic meters in Ninth Mile crash program. Oji and Ajali water schemes had a capacity of 60,000 cubic metres, while Iva Valley produced 5,000–6,000 cubic metres. Harvesting water may require sending a rocket to orbit. Mbah disrupted the domain.

Abandoned reservoir facilities are being repaired. The state is prepared for the industrial revolution with multiple tanks holding different capacities of cubic meters.

Each of the state’s 260 wards will soon have a modern model school with a pilot program. The Mbah administration leads digital transformation. The school model teaches ICT to three-year-olds in the state. Our education policy aims to compete globally. This sets the stage for a generation driving global digital development.

The governor aimed to eliminate rising poverty by lowering the index to zero. The procedure started with inherited pension arrears. He is also clearing 17-year gratuities to retirees in state and local governments. Economists say this program will transform the state’s economy quickly.

Enugu’s environment is unmatched in Nigeria. Months ago, the state was dirty and embarrassing. Waste everywhere. The state lost governance urgency. But the governor thought it would stop. He said health is important. He declared an environmental emergency and assembled a team to make changes when he started. In 3 months, Enugu was revived with modern trash management, compactor vehicles, and educated staff. Aesthetics are back. Nightlife is thriving again thanks to better lighting, policing, traffic management, and safety measures.

The governor promotes e-governance and innovation to digitize public service. Efficiency and proactive response to people’s needs are important. Enugu State joined e-governance club in 100 days. Many government agencies now use a global service delivery model. Thanks to the digital governor.

Governor Mbah has made changes to improve accountability and administration of state resources. 81 highways planned for completion by 2023. Mbah’s boldness is inspiring despite obstacles. Tomorrow is approaching.
